Quickcount
Live regional election tallying under a few hours of extreme load

The situation before
A quick count is software whose entire value concentrates into a handful of hours. Outside polling day it is barely touched.
On the day, results arrive from many field points at once while thousands of people refresh the page waiting for numbers to move. Any error at all becomes publicly visible at the least forgiving possible moment.
What we built
We split two paths that have completely different load profiles: field officers writing data in, and the public reading it out.
The read path is served from a copy refreshed on an interval, so the number of readers never slows down data entry. Every incoming entry passes a plausibility check before it counts, and published figures keep a change history so any disputed number can be traced back.
What was handed over
- Figures updating live without visitors needing to reload
- Write and read paths isolated so neither can starve the other
- A retained change history making every published number traceable
