Visitor check in that notifies the host without a receptionist

The situation before

A site with controlled access needs a record of who came in, who they came to see and when they left. Most keep that in a paper book at the front desk.

A paper book cannot be searched, cannot alert anybody, and depends entirely on somebody sitting at the desk to work at all. When that person steps away, visitors either wait or walk in unrecorded.

What we built

We built a self service check in that runs on an iPad at the entrance. A visitor enters their details once and the system takes over from there.

The host is notified automatically through whichever channel they already use, whether that is SMS, email, Slack or Microsoft Teams. Nobody has to be told somebody is waiting, and the visitor log becomes a searchable record rather than a book in a drawer.
